Stupeflix is a web service that turns digital content (images, text, audio, videos) into videos. This is a great way for a teacher to present information to a class or create a year-end recap of the class. Students can also create projects through this site. The site uses a drag and drop system to organize different parts of your video.
PowToon gives users tools to create animated and slideshow presentations. Anyone can sign up for free with an email address. Once signed in, users can design presentations using ready-made templates or start from scratch. Both options allow unlimited customization by adding text, images, simple animations, enter and exit effects, and more. Images are organized by styles; for example, the marker style offers visuals that seem as though they're whimsically drawn with a marker. (Free, classroom, and premium accounts unlock different numbers of styles.) When finished, upload the presentation to YouTube and send it to the teacher account for review, or keep it in your personal PowToon dashboard. This is a way to spice up a flipped classroom or have students create a different type of project to share content knowledge. The site is very intuitive but will take some practice, especially when first doing one of these with students. Kizoa is a site that is used to create videos, slideshows, collages, and also to edit photos from the convenience of a single platform with your own acount. It is free to make an account but there are some limitations for what you can do with a free account. There are dozens of templates and customizable options for creating your materials though. Photos and videos can be combined with text, music, and effects. The paid account gives you the ability to burn high definition videos and customize how your show or video is embedded on another site. GoAnimate is a cloud-based platform for creating and distributing animated videos. It allows users to develop both narrative videos, in which characters speak with lip-sync and move around, and video presentations, in which a voice-over narrator speaks over images and props, which may also move around. GoAnimate provides users with drag-and-drop tools that the company's website indicates can be used to access thousands of character models, backdrops, and other assets to create scenario-based videos - like political videos depicted during the 2012 presidential campaign. The platform offers text-to-speech character voices with customizable environments. |
